PANAMA CITY — Early Black Friday risers, or those who never went to sleep Thursday night, might need to stop in for a pick-me-up before continuing their shopping. Check out these coffee shops and seasonal specials in Bay County and the beaches to the west:
St. Andrews Coffee House, 1006 Beck Ave. in historic St. Andrews (769-3767) is open Tuesday through Saturday, with breakfast served 7-10:30 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and a full specialty drink menu all day. The coffee house closes at 2 p.m.
“We will be open Friday and Saturday for breakfast,” co-owner Ellen Mapelsden said. “We will have peppermint mochas and maybe some eggnog lattes.”
Laguna Beach Coffee Co., 22416 Panama City Beach Parkway (249-2777) will open today at its regular time, 7:30 a.m., but it has some seasonal flavors to entice you. “We have a ginger cream mocha and a pumpkin cream mocha that are very popular right now,” owner Marcy Dryslewski said.
If you’re braving Panama City Mall, 2240 Martin Luther King Blvd., stop by Coffee Beanery (872-8554) in the food court, and if you’re shopping the markets at Carillon Beach Resort, stop by Hava Java (236-8629) on Market Street.
Starbucks seems like it’s everywhere, and it has many seasonal specials, such as gingerbread loaf, the Cranberry Bliss Bar, frosted Snowman cookies, Christmas blend coffee, and specialty drinks including peppermint mocha, caramel brulée latte and gingerbread latte. Amavida Coffee and Tea in two locations: 104 N. Barrett Square in Rosemary Beach (231-1077), and 2236 E. County 30A in Seaside (231-3539). Amavida offers seasonal flavors of lattes including pumpkin spice, frosted mint, toasted marshmallow and salted caramel.
Fonville Press on County 30A in Alys Beach (213-5906) will be busy today with the Alys in Winter Wonderland 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by a sunset serenade with live music by Chris Alvarado from 4 to 6 p.m.
Closed Thursday through Sunday, David’s Sno-Balls at 13913 Back Beach Road in Panama City Beach (236-1998) usually has a flavor of N’Awlins in the morning with coffee and beignets. The shop offers pumpkin flavored snoballs and eggnog flavored milkshakes for the season. It reopens Monday at its regular hours, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Caffiend’s Coffee and Tea in St. Andrews will be closed indefinitely while the management restructures and relocates the business.
