PANAMA CITY — The change in the weather has brought another season of motorcycle riding to the Gulf Coast, and with it, the Thunder Beach Fall 2012 Rally.

The fun gets to full-throttle later next week, but it starts warming up on Monday and Tuesday, with karaoke at Ms. Newby’s and live music at Sandpiper Beacon.

On Wednesday, the party officially breaks loose with the Kick-Start Party on the rooftop of the garage at Shores of Panama, including live music by Buck Wild and the first preliminary for the Miss Thunder Beach Pageant. The official After-Party is at Pineapple Willy’s, while Ms. Newby’s, Club La Vela and Sandpiper will again host more live music.

Thursday brings the vendors out to play, with villages set up at six official locations across Panama City Beach. Each of the venues offers riders a different environment with unique amenities and features a variety of vendors offering a wide array of products and services. Each venue has free parking and there is never a gate charge.

Also beginning Thursday, motorcycle stunt shows will take place at regular intervals daily, and live music is scheduled at several venues. In addition, a poker run to benefit the Shriners will begin at Rock’It Lanes at noon. The big draws that night will be the second preliminary of the Miss Thunder Beach pageant, followed by Never Stop Believin’ (a Journey         tribute band) at Shoppes at Edgewater.

If a more sedate venue is your idea of a good time, steer away from the beach toward downtown Panama City for Hogs and Grog. A night just for bikers, Hogs and Grog takes place the second Thursday of each month, March through October, from 6 to 10 p.m. Bikers can park their hogs on Harrison Avenue between Fourth Street and Oak Avenue and enjoy a night of great bikes, great food, great music, and of course, plenty of grog.

For details on the next weekend’s events, see our Oct. 12 edition or check the Events listings at PanamaCity.com.
