PANAMA CITY BEACH — Rewind time to your favorite musical era with the tribute shows featured at this year’s Winter Concert Series at Gulf World Marine Park.
The 2013 series takes place through February. Tickets are now on sale; all seats are numbered. Prices are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. The schedule includes:
Aloha from Hawaii 40th Anniversary Concert: 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan.24. Featuring Todd Herendeen with the Go Big or Go Home Band, this concert focuses on Elvis Presley songs in memory of the King’s famous “Aloha from Hawaii” satellite TV special. Still Surfin’: 7 p.m. Jan. 26, is a tribute to the Beach Boys by a five-man group based in Washington, D.C. They bring an authentic retro look and five-part harmonies to the stage. Surf over to StillSurfin.com for details.
The World Famous Platters Revue: 7 p.m. Feb. 2. With a variety styles from Doo-Wop to Motown, this group of four men and one woman have been headlining The Icon Theatre (TheIconTheatre.com) in Branson, Mo.
Back 2 Back: 7 p.m. Feb. 9. The Piano Man meets the Rocket Man in this Billy Joel and Elton John tribute show in the spirit of the performers’ own “Face 2 Face” tour. For more on the band, visit MaximumBands.com.
Margo Anderson: 7 p.m. Feb. 16. The local songstress will perform the hits of Patsy Cline and Celine Dion. This show sold out last year, so fans are encouraged to get their tickets early. Learn more at MargoAnderson.com.
The Return: 7 p.m. Feb. 23. This two-part show focusing on the mop-top quartet that changed the landscape of rock music begins with Beatlemania (1963-1966) and ends with Sgt. Peppers & Beyond (1967-1970). A truly authentic band, the Return has even played a private concert at Abbey Road Studios, where the Beatles recorded. Learn more at TheReturnOnline.com.
Established in 1969, Gulf World Marine Park is a marine mammal public display facility licensed by the federal government; serves as area coordinator for the Southeast Marine Mammal Stranding Network; and is an accredited member of the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums.
Though it has expanded hours in the summer, the park is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, rain or shine. General park admission is $28 for adults, $18 for children ages 5-11, and free for children ages 4 and younger (plus tax). Annual passes are $56 for adults, $36 for children, and allow unlimited admission to the park for one year from the date of purchase.
